lsd is often approached with hesitation. one of these reasons is its street name “acid”, which is particularly abrasive and dangerous sounding. another reason is that lsd should not be taken lightly, and dosing matters. if you ingest too much lsd, and in the wrong setting, you can do damage to your mental health and experience what is called a “bad trip”. This distinct sculpture is a monumental statue and symbolic to the city of Barrie. The Spirit Catcher Sculpture, also called “Dream Catcher” sits on the shore of Kempenfelt Bat. With it’s creation over the course of 6 months, it is comprised of COR-TEEN steel by sculptor Ron Baird for Expo 86 in Vancouver. Weighing at 20-tonne and 25 metres wide and 21 metres tall, the sculpture features 16 kinetic quills that rock back and forth when the wind blows. When Expo 86 ended, the Helen McCrea Peacock Foundation of Toronto purchased the Spirit Catcher for CAD $230,000 and donated it to the “Barrie Gallery Project”. This monumental sculpture was dedicated on September 12, 1987 and proudly represents the Aboriginal People of Canada.
